FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. What is the legal structure of the Vietnamese American Youth Orchestras [VAYO]?Answer: A nonprofit organization [501(c)(3)] fee/scholarship-Strings and others (if it’s possible)
2. Who is qualified to join?Answer: Vietnamese origin, directly/indirectly [Vietnamese Chinese etc.]
3. Would students pay annual tuition?
Answer: Yes, annual tuition/scholarship
4. Would our young musicians be able to perform at well the established concert hall such as Meyerson?
Answer: Yes, at Meyerson once or twice a year, depend on budget and available funds
5. Location-Where is the available class rooms, best suit locations for majority of students?
Answer: Wherever logistically fit (free or minimum rent, facility, parking, convenience, secure …)
6. What about non-strings instruments?Answer: Will try to accommodate other instruments if possible (instructors, funds, instruments . .)
7. Are Private/Group lessons available to students?Answer: Group, not private lessons. However, if students need private lessons, contract instructors will be available to teach, before or after group lessons.
8. Are there theory, vocal, dance, visual, theater programs?
Answer: Eventually we will include other disciplines: vocal, dance, theatre. .
9. What about non Vietnamese but of the Asian decedent - then what about Non Asian?
Answer: Asian descent is included; however, we try to avoid overlap with Chinese, Hong Kong or Taiwanese programs. It seems that they already have programs going on in various communities, cities, towns. .
10. Are financial aids available?
Answer: We’ll drum up volunteers and supports from business owners, professionals (medical, law, science fields. .) to raise funds and contributions;
11. Are there native Vietnamese/Asian instruments classes?
Answer: We would love to see Vietnamese traditional music included! In this matter, we can hire traditional music teachers, including Chinese teachers to teach our kids, even adults if they still love and want to learn-I do too!
12. Nurturing and develop talents for each student? Answer: Absolutely! Our kids’ emotional and social intelligences are very important.
13. Can we have budget for teachers for each instrument discipline?
Answer: No one individual can bankroll for this DREAM, but we must prepare a business plan [if we fail to PLAN, we PLAN to fail.] We then present it to interested parties who are willing to financially support our plan. Every thing will be well drafted in the business plan.
14. Do we have budget for administrative, advertising, material, supplies etc?
Answer: We must share the VISION, and then people will come along to join us. When people see and recognize our VISION, they will pull their sleeves and participate, involve and contribute.
A VISION without implementation is just an illusion!
MISSION:
The Vietnamese American Youth Orchestras [VAYO] is a non-profit [501(C)(3)] organization dedicated to providing music, art education and performance opportunities for musically talented Vietnamese Americans.
Why VAYO?
The Vietnamese American Youth Orchestras programs cultivate learning, creative, social and motivational skills. At the same token, VAYO inspires its members to preserve the quality of Vietnamese civilization and cultural heritage through all other artistic activities. VAYO creates opportunities for its members to engage in various ensembles and socialize with a diverse group of highly talented peers from other communities. Eventually, VAYO’s musicians also interact with professionals from the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Dallas Wind Symphony and other local ensembles.
